2018 322RLOK - Upgrade to Two 6V Batteries

Hello:

I am trying to upgrade from one 12V battery (currently on a-frame btween trailer and jack) to two 6V batteries. Battery cases will not fit in tray behind propane tanks. I have two 6V batteries and Noco 6V battery cases. Looked like they might fit in tray behind propane tanks but, no luck.

What have you done to make this work?

Considering adding new 2 battery tray above where single 12 V battery is (see attached picture).

Phil

How about put a single propane tank where the existing battery is, then put the pair of 6 volt batteries where the two propane tanks are now?

Thanks Bill. Really wanting to keep two propane tanks. Saw some good ideas on thread: Making Room for 6V Batteries.

This will probably fit to hold them in front of the tanks.

Consider a single Lithium. Almost as much total available amps as 2 6 volts and a lot less wait plus no water to watch or 50% draw down limit!

I got a 200 amp hour lithium battery and moved it off the a frame to inside under the bed. Also put a 3000 watt inverter next to the battery. The lithium was a lot lighter that the deep cycle battery I had on it. Just have to make sure your converter can charge lithium, mine did not so I had to replace the converter

Sounds good but, I already have the two 6V batteries on hand and am concerned that my converter may not support lithium batteries.

Solution found.

I have connected the new batteries similarly to the picture below / attached. This allows me to still have two propane tanks and be able to access them fairly easily. Just need my neighbor to fabricate a bracket for me and permanently attach it. Thanks everyone for the input. Soumds like I should maybe have investigated lithium batteries further but, the two new 6V batteries will be a big improvement.
