25RB Mods and Enhancements

Thought I'd share a few pics of the mods and enhancements we've been working on in our new 2022 Jay Feather 25RB. We got her in October knowing it would be a long winter waiting for camping season to start in Western NY. Biding our time by spending some time working on things...

Our first add was the Tootsie Toaster (to keep us warm while we work on other items):

Installed the door grab bar, which we painted black to match the screen door. Also hung our map to the door. It's mounted on a sheet of plexi-glass which is painted white on the back surface. Held in place using the "velcro" Command Strips:

Built a drawer under the dinette seat with drawer slides. DW filled it with games from our previous Jay Feather. Probably need to do the same to the other dinette seat:

Added a runner and a foot-stool. We opted for the tri-fold sofa in our unit, so needed a way to put our feet up. The foot-stool doubles as storage. We plan to use it for the sheets and blankets for the sofa bed when we need to make it for guests (or adult children who still want to camp with their old mom and dad):

Repurposed the cabinet door handles from the doors we removed to install the fireplace. I added some magents and steel washers to the right side for easy access to WH and pump. Will make winterizing much easier:

Broom, dust pan, and "security" center on inside of the pantry door:

Key holder:

Storage for our utensils:

Spice Rack:

a few more:

We noticed there is a real danger that we could break the glass front of the cupboard if the handle of the neighboring door is thrown into it. So we added a chain stop. We also added some black vinyl to the back of the glass. We don't care to see the contents of the cupboard when the doors are closed..and in our last unit, the frost on the glass was scratched due to contents shifting in travel:

Sourced some magnetic boards on Amazon and hung on sliding bathroom door to display our magnet collection. These represent our travels since 2006. Our kids enjoyed collecting and still spend time looking at them whenever they are in the camper:

Removed the bar at the top of the bedroom wardrobes and installed a third shelf:

Mounted the bedroom TV using a mount we picked up at Harbor Freight for $15. Missed the backer plate in the wall on the first try despite drilling through the label Jayco used to identify where it was. Had to move 3" towards the front of the camper to find it:

Next on the list are installing the solar system I've slowly been designing, organizing storage area in front pass-through, and dialing in the Reese Dual Cam WDH.

Please Spring...get here soon!

Nice work. It's always fun tinkering on RV's to make them more personal.
I installed a DIY plate holder in a cabinet. It will hold a lot of plates and keeps then from moving around and also easier to grab the one you need.

That looks like a winner.

I love everything you've done with this! The tootsie toaster is a must have for us. We currently have a 264 BH, which we love, but the grandson is getting older and won't be going along much longer. I'd like to have one of these for just myself and grandma to travel in. Thanks for the thread!

We purchased it from Amazon.
Description on Amazon is: Homedex 36" Recessed Mounted Electric Fireplace Insert with Touch Screen Control Panel, Remote Control, 750/1500W, Log/Crystal Options

Had to make just a few modifications to the existing cabinet area. Removed doors, shelves and widened the opening about 1/2" on each side. Was able to reuse the shelve material to create the framing to accommodate the fireplace. Took me about 3 hours to complete the installation.

Our 2022 25RB has the 12v fridge option. While looking for a path to the power distribution box under the sink, I discovered an unused 110v receptacle under the fridge next to the furnace. I suspected this was intended for the 110v/propane absorption fridge option. I decided to use that.

I drilled a small hole (just big enough to allow for the fireplace plug) through the wall between the back of the old cupboard space into and the pantry. Then a 90 degree turn to go through back pantry wall into the utility space under fridge meant I didn't have to wire anything...just plug into the receptacle already there.

If I didn't already have that receptacle, I would have run a dedicated 110v line from the distribution box (there is an available breaker slot in the box) to a receptacle.

Hope this helps.

Very Cool! Thank You. I hope to buy one of these models and do this same mod.

Realy nice mods you have done. Althugh our 25RB mods are not as extensive, we love the floor plan and have had zero issues since we purchased it new in 2020.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you. We also love the floorplan. We spend our winters watching RV walk-thru videos. We haven't seen another floor plan that we would put ahead of this one. Once you've had a bathroom as large as the 25RB has, it's almost impossible to consider any other floorplan.

The only thing we wish we could change is the road mode access. But we've never been anywhere we couldn't extend the slide when we've needed to.

LOVE seeing all your mods! I have a 2022 22rb that I picked up in October. I pretty much drove it home and parked it. Been playing with it every week. checked out water/hot water system as much as I could before I had to winterize. Now, with the freezing temps I've spend a few random days warming her up inside, poking around and adding 'this and that.'

Like yours, my model did not have a fireplace option for that year. I too have been eyeing that bottom cabinet for a potential install. I have looked at photos and I believe the cabinets in our two units are virtually the same size. I've been studying the depth and doors and overall size of the opening and like you mentioned, my thoughts were that it would definitely require some filling in. I am no master carpenter, but I do have the tools, knowledge, skill and courage to attempt the modification, at some point. Thank you for sharing! I'll keep this post earmarked for when I might want to ask some questions.

I'd love to ask more questions about your install.

Would it be possible for your to draw out or try to provide the steps you took to install? Like any special things to watch out for...hardware that worked best? Any tips would be so greatly appreciated.

I just noticed your reply about how you found the power for it. MY model has the 12v fridge BUT my fridge is located in the slideout...across the kitchen. I could drill straight through the back wall of the cabinet and use the receptacle located in the closet.

I've yet to use mine and can't wait to do so, but you're right; like you, I spent a lot of time watching various floorpan walk-through videos...that bathroom...the same size on my 22rb...there's nothing like it and there's not another floorpan that seems to 'strike my fancy' like this one.
