Awning arm replacement

Looking for advice. Have to replace both arms. Not all the holes are the same. I started to drill the arms and they still didn’t line up. Figured out they were not installed straight. Just drilled new holes in the camper. With self tapping screws. Backed the screw out and packed with caulk and reinserted the screw. Does this sound right? It’s and aluminum/fiberglass trailer.

That’s what I would do as well. Don’t forget to fill in the old holes with caulking as well.

In the past I have elongated the holes in the arms to get that fabric to stay straight.
