In the desert here outside of Phoenix and it's hot already. Not much wind lately so I put out the electric awning yesterday and noticed the awning material was not stretched firmly as on a neighbor's Designer, but sagged several inches. I'm wondering if others have tight or sagging material. Seems it's more susceptible to winds when it's loose.
The tech who did the walk through for me had me hold the button until the awning was fully extended and the same for retracting.
I then read through all of the manuals and the awning manual said to press and release the button and it will stop automatically in both directions.
I haven't tried that yet and I don't know if it will automatically set the correct tension.

Solved the problem. I was pulling the trigger a bit too soon, not wanting to strain the motor. Found that if I keep the extend button down a couple extra seconds it snugs up the fabric. So bottom line, while the arms were fully extended, it still had a bit more work to do.
