Looking for suggestions for a good battery disconnect switch for my trailer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Please post your trailer make, model and year plus tow vehicle for best advice.
I bought an external switch and mounted it on my box. But it broke after a few uses. Now I have an extremely simple and reliable one that is also very inexpensive. Research, battery post disconnect switch on amazon pic below

I bought this one been using it a few weeks now. And it works well.
I had to replace the ring terminal with one slightly larger. I tried to drill out the original but just mangled it.

They do work well but it is a bit of a bother to remove the top battery cover every time.

I got a pair of these, mostly to have a simple quick disconnect for the negative terminal, but now I'm going to hook the three positive wires up as well, which makes for quick battery removal and re-installation over the winter and doesn't even require a wrench. So far it has come in very handy as I had to troubleshoot and then replace a defective converter.

Perko 8501DP is the ONLY switch to use. It won't fail if it gets wet, and can be installed anywhere that is convenient. It's marine grade.

I have used this one on my last two (2) trailers. No need to open the battery box to shut it off

That's my choice also - I put it on the NEG Battery wire. There is only one wire on that side, so I am confident I have completely cut the circuit, and don't have any parasitic drain.

I added this one as well

Your fridge most likely relies on 12v to control the cooling (not DO the cooling), so just be aware of that. I disconnected my battery one hot day when leaving camp (boondocking) and came back to a warm fridge.

I used the same shut-off switch as "jbergsli" used from Amazon. But I mounted mine inside the front pass-thru storage of my Jayco 264BHW to protect it from elements, and discourage jokers from switching it off.

I put battery disconnect on each battery. I have put these switchs on about ten trailers. I get the parts at Home Depot for about $27.00. I use 120 V outdoor household parts.

Battery Disconnect Switch

I too used one from Amazon, same as distracto. Made an aluminum plate to mount it on the tongue along with the "push to reset" 30 amp circuit breaker. The breaker is inline with the main power between the battery and the trailer. For safety reasons, I wired the breakaway switch direct to the battery. Everything else, including the tongue jack, goes through the breaker and the shutoff switch.

Here is the link for the switch:

CON: The housing is pretty small. I had to bend the cable connectors 90 degrees to mount on the posts inside the housing.

Battery Switch

I use two like the one Distracto uses. One to disconnect the the solar and one to disconnect the batteries from the TT. Got them on Amazon.

I use these also. I purchased 2 for my toad incase I ever loose the screw knob, however, I went to HD and purchased a few nylon, flat washers, cut a piece of pie out of one, then snap it in between the knob and post, tighten down the knob. The washer prevents the knob from making contact. Now I always know where the knob is. So far after 1 year all is good!

I got mine at a marine supply store and it's in a tough plastic case and requires only turning the switch handle.
