beeping CO/LP detector

I just got a 2013 Jayco JayFlight 198RD. LOVE this camper. when it is parked, not plugged in, eventually CO/LP detector beeps because of low-battery. When I plug in, it stops. question is..........when I am dry camping and on battery, what do you do so that it doesn't continue to beep at you until you can plug in again.

Maybe add a solar charger on the battery to keep it charged up or a second battery (use 2 six volts) tied in so your power will last longer? Just a thought.

Welcome to the forum.

You shouldn't let your battery get that low when boondocking, it's bad for the battery. You'll need solar or a generator to charge the battery from time-to-time, depending on the power you pull from the battery.

It's possible the battery in the trailer when you bought it is already bad and needs to be replaced. You should have it tested and find out.

When storing, you can remove a battery cable (the negative one, preferably) to eliminate ALL draws on the battery. Otherwise, a fully charged, good battery will be dead within a week.

You can't stop the beeping unless you pull the fuse on that circuit. That's not your solution though.

X2 on okdmanAZ's post.

Would only add that when in storage, you'll want to install a master battery disconnect that makes 'turning off' your battery a 3 second issue. It's just a switch on the negative battery post. You can pick them up for about 10 bucks and it pays for itself in less than a week. You can get more elaborate battery cutoffs, but I like the type that installs directly on the battery itself. Super simple install.

Every time you hear your detectors beeping due to low battery, that's really your batteries crying, and they will die quickly if they go through that enough times.

You can also get another battery and it will last twice as long.

Also keep in mind if the only charging you are doing is when your tow vehicle is hooked up driving to the camp site, that likely won't charge the battery if it was low enough to set off the alarms unless you were on a really long trip.
