Bolt coming through floor?

Hello,

Just noticed something like that:

Is this a bolt coming through the floor? How difficult is this to fix? My warranty expired around one month ago. Is Jayco repairing stuff under goodwill?

Thanks!

Same on mine.
I opened up the vinyl (just around the bolt head) and screwed down the bolt. I replaced the vinyl and held it down with a dab of museum wax. Fortunately it is located in front of the sink area where i have a chefs mat.
It does constantly work its way up. My plan is to give it some Gorilla Glue before screwing it back in.
Unfortunately I have bigger fish to fry,
Just noticed that my wheel clearance to top of wheel well is much tighter on one side than the other.
I double checked all suspension components and all is perfect.
I opened up the exterior baggage door, looked left and saw that both the floor and the inside wheel box are slopping down.
I will be taking pics and documentation begins to send to my dealer.
I was getting ready to put it to bed for the winter but that plan will be changing.
I will keep everyone posted.
I hope this journey goes well!

I had the same thing. Mine was where we walk through all the time so I cut the underbelly plastic and used pliers to rotate it back down. It's a self tapping bolt that holds the floor to the frame cross members. I also used a punch to bash the threads so maybe it'll stay down.

I just noticed something similar this week. This is a new 2018 trailer as of May, so it's under warranty. But scheduling service on the road is a challenge. Maybe if I make an appointment now for winter in Florida....

I had one work its way up last year in my 2016 31FK right in front of the sofa. Jayco repaired it under warranty and replaced my entire floor. On our last trip I noticed another bolt beginning to come up. My rig is still under warranty so once I am done for the season I will see what they say. This seems like a design problem that should be addressed. I have been thinking of doing what tinyhse has done but wonder what someone will think when I go to sell this thing and it has a bunch of holes in the flooring. I don’t think that this will be the last time!
Does Loctite work on self tapping bolts.

I have that problem. A self tapping screw backed itself out about 1/2 inch. By the time I opened it up, the underneath of the linoleum was beginning to tear. The surface had not torn yet.

I made two slits to form a flap. Then I backed the screw completely out. Applied a liberal amount of red Loctite and screwed it back in. Don't how much Loctite made it to the metal I frame. I put the linoleum flap back down using linoleum seam sealer. It's been maybe 2 weeks since I did it, and so far, it seems to be holding.

I also have another one on the same line beginning to back out. It's up maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch. I'm waiting a little while to let the repaired one work a while to see if the repair holds.

Thanks for the photos! This is helpful. Why did you do such a fairly big cut in the vinyl? Wouldn't a small cut be sufficient?

Just curious is the bolt working it way up? Or is floor decking shrinking due to not being properly kiln dried!Seems like a lot of folks having the same problem.

The bolts are working their way up due to flex when moving and likely because they were over-driven when installed stripped the crossmember steel. I'll see what happens to mine this winter. I bashed the threads up from below so I'll see if it can work it's way back up.

On mine, the screw/bolt was definitely backing it's way out.I hope enough Loctite was left on the threads to get on the metal I-beam. I'm hoping the screw/bolt stays put.

In retrospect, I probably could have made a smaller incision. However, you will notice, I would have missed some of the tear, if I had cut narrower.

With the entire tear exposed, I was able to put seam sealer in the tear also.

I contacted a Jayco dealer who did not want to accept the trailer for repair because I did not buy from him and another shop, but they were not willing to work with me either. I decided to repair this myself... even though I am not really a DIY person.

I understand I will need:

Loctite 37421 271 Red Heavy Duty

https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-37421.../dp/B0028OJAIY

Floor-Seam-Adhesive

https://www.amazon.com/Armstrong-S-7.../dp/B00L3XVFGQ

Hand roller

https://www.amazon.com/MARSHALLTOWN-...yl+hand+roller

Question:

Do I need vinyl adhesive / double sided tape or vinyl seam sealer is enough?

When we toured the factory I was surprised they actually use a very good brand of domestic Plywood......dimensional lumber gets kiln dried not plywood.

My camper is sitting at the dealer as we speak.
Bolt through the floor is one of 13 items on my punch list.
I emailed them for a status yesterday early morning.
No reply yet.
As a courtesy I allow 48 hours on replies to my emails.
Lets see how this goes.
This will be a great journey for all to follow especially if you are considering a Jayco product.
Stay tuned!!

For better or worse, I just used some of the seam sealer on the bottom of the flap I had to cut in order to re-install the screw/bolt.
