Derelict RV fees in Wash. ST.
Hello, I just received my renewal notice for my license tab for my Jayco TT. It appears for us Washingtonians we are picking up the tab for paying for derelict abandoned junk trailers people dump. It's a $6.00 charge we're all paying to enjoy the priviledge of our rv's. Just another example of good people paying for bad people being irresponsible. Be nice to have a voice! I think I need more cheese to go with my wine (or beer) I don't drink wine.

I guess we can now park our or store our RVs in the street for just $6.00 a year! Can’t turn down a good deal like that. Find a spot with a power pole, hydrant & sewer and I’m good!

No that alright, guess we'll pay to ship them to Florida for a place to live. How much do you pay to keep abandoned RV's off the streets and countryside?

One has to admire the ingenuity of our elected representatives. They will tax anything. Maryland taxes rain water. If it rains on your property, there's a tax. They deny it but that's exactly what it is.

$6.00. Abandoned RV disposal fee helps in the removal and disposal of these abandoned vehicles. That's the description listed in your renewal notice. I wasn't aware or heard anything about it until the renewal came. That's what bothers me the most about it.

What?!? Abandoned vehicle fee?!?
That should be a direct problem for the last owner. If they don't dispose of it properly it should go against their driver's license which should then be suspended.
I understand that its probably because of homeless/transient people. And I know they often get them from tow yard auctions, but you need a drivers license to purchase from them and the tow yards will have their license on file.
It's only $6 so I'm not boycotting owning an RV over it. But it's absolutely not a fee that should be passed to us.

Haven't seen that charge on car tabs yet . Have come across abandoned vehicles in the woods. Dont know who ends up paying for those. Maybe more parts of value to use. Guess we have to do our fair share. Rather see them in downtown seattle than in the woods

we do have a voice
While I understand not liking the fee, six bucks is pretty small potatoes given the luxury that most of us have who get to travel with trailers.
That being said, your voice is in your two representatives and one senator in Olympia. Mine respond to me, though not always in the way I would like. I assume your's will respond to you.

trailer surcharge
Washington has done this for years on vessels--and got away with it. Don't know if any derelicts (boats) have been removed at state expense.
They also charged us for new license plates recently, even if your old ones were serviceable, and they charged you even more if you wanted to use your old number.
They also have recreational pot, taxed so heavily that your street corner supplier is the cheapest (perhaps safest) supply.
I'm convinced the Washington legislature forgot their helmets on the short bus

As a Washingtonians I didn't mine the additional 6 bucks, its the $344.00 added to my pickup tabs for the RTA that I mine.

And we keep voting in the same tax hungry politicians over and over again...
For some odd reason we keep voting in the same politicians that are tax hungry. We seem to vote in the same party and the same people over and over and over again. I wonder if it’s not their fault but ours?
I have been in the boat business in Washington state for over 35 years. I was a boat yard owner for most of that time. The abandon boat fee is near bogus. Most yards have to suck up the costs of destroying those abandon boats. Not that the fee doesn’t get used, but it gets used far less than one can imagine, And most of the revenue gets sucked up in administrative costs to run the whole program rather than abandoned boats actually been destroyed
