Does Your TV have a weighted license plate?
Love to hear if you have a weighted tag and for how much weight.
In North Carolina, all trucks over 6k lbs. require a weighted plate that must cover the tongue weight of the Travel Trailer. I rounded my TV max gross vehicular weight rating to the nearest thousand for a total of 9k lbs. If you know of anyone getting a ticket for being over max gross rating, please share.
Thanks in advanced

I just got a weighted tag for my TV in NC. The clerk told me the tag had to cover the weight of the TV + the trailer's weight. Combined gross rating is 13800lb. A 14k lb weighted tag was $125. A 13K tag was $79. I went with the 13K, which still allows us about 2700lb of people and cargo.

After much confusion and research I found the answer and in accordance with North Carolina Division of Motor vehicles, Vehicle Registration Section Title Manual, Section 2, Chapter 1, page 3 "...Camping trailers are not to be included in the weight declared for license on a truck, if used only for recreational purposes. License weight on the truck should include the tongue part that is in the truck weight only, not the full weight of the camper. Fee for a camper trailer is $11.00."
All other trailers such as boat trailers do not appear to be included in this "exception" for travel trailers. Hope that helps.

That's still cheaper than PA. A weight class 3 (3/4 ton, 9,200 lb GVWR) plate here is $153.00. My TT (8,500 lb GVWR) is $12.00.

I got an over weight ticket in NC for being over weight with my f250 and a 4500lb work trailer once. Oddly enough though you don't have to have weighted tags on SUV's in NC so I tote around my 9k TT with regular tags.

Learn something new every day... When I bought my 2500 last year I was told by the dealership that I had to have weighted tags. Which I guess is still true since I would need them if I ever pull something besides my Jayco... Renewal just came yesterday... $123 for 12k lb tags.

Not required in Ohio unless you use it for commercial as well. We have non commercial and commercial pick-up plates.

With my 2013 F350 the DMV told me I had to have a truck plate. But registration costs are much lower in Idaho.

Wisconsin has weighted tags for pick-ups but I have Army Veteran plates and they don't show what the truck is tagged for. I only use it for pulling the camper and my daily driver. I am a retired LEO and have never seen a pick-up pulling a camper being stopped and weight checked.

Yes, hard to believe that Taxachusetts doesn't have that tax yet as well, at least that I know of. However, our fine state is starting to install plate reading "Toll Cameras". I've read several times that the long term plan is to install toll cameras up all over the state making every state road you drive on a toll road.
