Door lock

Hi , I've read all the posted item on this site pertaining to "door Lock" issues. All say there issue had something to do in Cold weather. My problem is with the dead bolt will not retract in hot weather more some when the sun is shinning on the door. When I get the door open the key works fine. The bolt has clearance on the bottom of the strick plate, can't tell on the sides.
I guess my question why does work in cool weather and not warm and works when it is open.

Sorry for the long story

Basically, everything (metal, fiberglass, plastic) expands in the heat and contracts in the cold. Your door is reacting to the heat and expanding, ever so slightly, and binding the bolt.

It might require filling the bolt hole in the strike plate and make it a bit larger. Also, apply some good grease to the bolt, latch and strike plate, it will help it slide too.

I just put a little oil on my door latch 2 days ago, wow what a difference. It’s never closed and opened so nicely.

Paraffin is a good lubricant and it won't get on you or your clothing. Just keep a piece handy and rub some on the latch when it starts to close hard.
