Electrical questions

2020 Jayco 24ft Octane toy hauler. This thing came with two batteries. They're in a dedicated hole in the side of the trailer. The batteries are not connected. They each have a black(-) and red(+) wire which disappear into the bowels of the trailer. The black wires each go to a separate block bolted to the side of the enclosure and then disappear as described.
My first question is: why are the 2 batteries not connected?
Second question is: where do the wires go i.e. what are they connected to?
Third question: I want to install disconnect switches for the batteries and install battery tender connectors to each. I thought knife switches in place of the 2 terminal blocks would be a way to go. Any thoughts?
I should say that I've written to Jayco in an attempt to get a wiring diagram of this trailer. Don't you just love being ignored? Is there such a thing or do they just make it up as they go?
Any help appreciated.
Oops. Red wires go to the blocks. I would change that to black.

Do you have (a worthless) factory disconnect switch? The wires may connect there.

Here is the type of switch I added as a full battery disconnect.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07413JWLD...414877R0CEZNRK

If the link does not work, just search Amazon for a “marine battery switch”

Just remember to have the batteries connected when traveling, they power your emergency brakes if you have major problem.

Did you write or email using the contact form for customer service?

https://www.jayco.com/site/contact/service/

The batteries are not connected because someone did it wrong.

They should be connected this way with both reds together and all the blacks together.

The red blocks are auto-reset circuit breakers

That's what I thought Grumpy. But I have 2 pairs disappearing through the back of the cubby hole. No idea why.
Yes I just filled out that form. Maybe with the serial number they'll respond.

Ghen - no factory disconnect. I looked at the switch you pointed out. Works OK eh?

I use these disconnects on my battery pair. Did have the old knife version on my old camper.
