"Freestanding" dining table problem

The table actually was screwed down and it's pulled out all four screws. Since it's on a slide I'll have to use the same length screws. Should I move the table an inch and screw it in or could I use slightly larger diameter screws in the existing holes? It's on carpet if that's a factor . Thanks.

1 trick you can try is to mix some carpenters wood glue with saw dust to a paste, then fill the holes with it using a putty knife or your finger, let it dry, put same screws back in....

Hey, thanks. I've got carpet and if it gets in the way, I could try squeezing it out of a syringe. Expert that I ain't, should I let the mixture harden, or drive the screws in and let it harden around them?

Sorry, missed the part about carpet....that will work, or in a baggie and tear the corner off like doing icing on a cake... let it harden for a day, then put the screws back in. You may need to drill a very small pilot hole. You want the glue/sawdust mix to be pretty thick...more of a paste than a liquid...

No problem...let me know how it works once it's dry and put back in place!
