Freezer temp.

Can anyone suggest as to what the lowest temperature would be permitted to safely operate an RV freezer.

Our dog has medication that has to be kept frozen at around zero deg F. We've done that successfully for the last 2 years in our TT, but haven't had a need to go below that.

Hope that helps.

Perhaps I was not clear enough--What would be the safe outside temp. to run the fridge and freezer safely. Thanks,

Freezer temp.

I can't speak to whether it's safe or not. However, I have used my refrigerator on propane in temperatures of 12 to 15 below zero (not below freezing, below zero). I.e., I have been out using my trailer in those temperatures.

I have never encountered and damage to the refrigerator.

We lived in and off grid house for 12 years and had a Norcold RV refer that stayed on all the time we lived there. Outside temps ranged from 4F to 103F. Never had a problem.

I did have an RV refer with an ice maker once and the ice maker line had a heater on the water line but it would drain the battery pretty quick. When it was going to get real cold I'd drain that line and remove the fuse from the ice maker water line heater.

It has been suggested to block off a couple ( not all) of the outside vents in cold weather since the fridge relys on heat to function.
