Furnace maintenance tips needed

Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 Jayco JayFlight 28BHS at a permanent lot by the lake here in Ontario Canada. As we are here mostly for fishing, we are here until late Fall where the temps can dip to freezing. As such, we use the furnace a lot and it works wonderfully - how do you maintain your furnace system? Is there a filter that needs to be replaced/cleaned? what about the blower?

There's is nothing in Jayco owner's manual and my online research just shows me to keep my ducts clean. Any advice and tips to keep things tip top would be great. I don't think I want to experience a furnace failure on a night like tonight (-5 C). Thanks in advance!

Pierre

There's not a lot to the furnace that need maintenance. The duct cleaning is about it. For preventative maintenance, I have a mud dauber screen over the exhaust outside to keep critters from building homes in there.

If anyone else thinks of something I am missing, I'm sure they'll chime in on this.

I use floor register filters. They really prevent dirt and debris from entering the ducting. Additionally in my NP, the cold air return is a grid cut into the vertical step area. Had to trim a furnace filter and install behind it.
