Angry I think we bought a lemon...

My husband and I were convinced we had to purchase our 3rd Jayco. We wouldn't even consider another brand because our previous two Jaycos were quality products that we never had any major issues with. We ordered a custom built Jayco Eagle HT 284BHOK in December 2018 and picked it up on April 30, 2019. A little quality assurance would have went a long way. We have had water leaks, speakers wired incorrectly, drawers that constantly open when you are on the road, poor seals on the doors, lights under the trailer that flicker on and off, trim has fallen off because it wasn't glued securely, the oven handle came off, a glass light fixture that is hanging by a wire, black tank shut off working improperly, etc...the list goes on and on. The three main issues...1. The auto-leveling that we paid more than $1800 to have, hasn't worked at all. The manufacturer of the jacks even went to the dealer to do some welding work, and it still doesn't work. Our trailer is never completely level when we camp. Then the doors don't want to shut properly. 2. We had an 8' long metal piece above the slideout come loose while we were driving 70 miles per hour down the highway. Not only did it do a lot of damage by scratching the exterior of our 2020 trailer that we just purchased, but had it come off, it could have potentially caused an accident by flying off into someone else's car. It was fixed but our 2020 trailer has definitely lost its luster. 3. We have a horrid smell coming from the gray water tank in the kitchen sink. Behind our kitchen sink is our drawers for the master bedroom. So, our clothes in the drawers smell like our gray water tank. The dealer told us it was grease build up which is funny because we are very careful about what we put down our drain. They said they cleaned it out...but the smell has returned. On hot humid days, it smells as if we have a pile of garbage sitting in the middle of the RV. The dealer has had our RV more than half the summer. There are still issues unresolved and some they don't even know about yet because ever time we camp, the list just keeps getting bigger. The sales guy at the dealer will not offer any help at all, he just tells us to contact service. The service dept. sounds like they are doing everything they can, however, I always have to contact them to check on things otherwise we don't hear from them for days. And Jayco, hasn't been any help at all. I only got their attention when I posted a passive aggressive comment on a Facebook post. I contacted them again after their customer service rep promised he would stay on top of it and again, it's been at least 2 weeks since I have heard from him and still don't know the status of when our parts will be in. We would have been better off keeping the Jayco we had that was already paid off. We invested a lot of time and money into a new unit that we thought was perfect for our family, instead it has been a nightmare. My husband and I are constantly disappointed with this trailer and it has really put a damper on every trip we have taken this summer. Any suggestions on what we can do to get these issues resolved.

Sounds like it's right up to Thor standards.

Yes, you can contact the State Department of Consumer Affairs and tell them what you said here. Send them copies of your timeline of events including whom you talked to etc. Send a copy of this to JAYCO as well. When done with that send a copy of the file to your congressman, both state and federal..This normally will get action as neither the dealer or JAYCO wants to get involved with all the grief these folks can dump on them. Besides it is great to see them squirm for awhile.
