I need a Opinion

I have 306RKDS which has 2 gray tanks one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen which both exit from the same outlet. I usually open the kitchen gate valve last to flush rinse the sewer hose, the I close all (3) gate valves
My issues is when set up the next trip, before I open any of the gate valves i take off the end cap approx a quart of what I am hoping is gray water gushes out. I suspect it was trapped in the long section of pipe from the kitchen gate to the rear outlet that come forward as I travel. Any ideas does some else have similar issue and a solution.

Thanks

I had that problem with a 5th wheel years ago. Cheap and quick solution was to buy a gate valve which fits at the end of your final outlet made to solve your problem. You keep it closed to avoid these unexpected spills. When you are ready to dump remove the end cap first. No unexpected gray water spill since your end gate valve is closed. Then attach your sewer hose, open up end gate valve to discharge first the leaked gray water. Then dump your black water tank. Close black water tank. Dump both gray water tanks. Close up gray water tanks. Finally close your end gate valve finished off with end cap. Next time you go to dump removing the end cap you won't experience the spill you are concerned about.

I have one of those Valterra gate valves in my "parts dept" just in case. They're nice to have but I think the root of the cause needs to be investigated.

At the labor rate of $120 an hour in an RV shop I wouldn't investigate anything further. Just my opinion.

I have the same set up on our Whitehawk. Maybe get 4 or 5 ounces of gray water when taking off the cover. Figure it's water left over in the lines after closing the valves. I don't worry about it, but sounds like you're dealing with a little more excess than I do.

Take it to a trailer sales/repair shop.

Put on the Valterra valve mentioned above and never worry about it again. Did that 3 years ago and it’s been one of the best upgrades. All the residual liquid settles to the end cap and comes out when you open it weeks or months later. If it was gallons coming out I’d suspect a bad leak, but it doesn’t sound that bad in your case. Install the end cap valve and you’ll be good.

Yep - you need a valve where the cap is. I'm sure we've all done it once and it's kinda nasty. Water is left over from pipe that didn't get flushed.

Had the same problem but didn't want the gate valve as it stuck out too far so got one of the clear sewer caps with the garden hose threads on it and screwed on a 1/4 turn s/off valve so now I can see if there is any fluid present and just open the small valve and let it drain into the sewer hose while holding the hose under the valve. A lot cheaper than a new gate valve too.

Get valve. Bonus benefit for when your bathroom grey water tank is full, with the added valve closed, open both grey water tanks and the bathroom tank will transfer contents to the kitchen tank until they are both at the same level. close both grey water valves and you are good to go. At dump time, add hose, open the gate valve first, allow it to drain, then drain black, etc.

Dribbling fiver

I put the valve at the discharge Point myself after I got wet feet a couple times. My problem with taking the trailer back for repair if one is available is they slice open your full belly pan and tape it back in place, rather than removing it and reinstalling it as a complete unit. I always wondered if this is a Jayco approved method.
