Smile Installing a Second AirCon in a 2018 Jayco 29BHDB

Hello all, I did a search and couldn't find a similar post, so my apologies if its repeated. I am about to install a second (Bedroom) AC in our TT and was wondering if there is anyone that has already done it and can give me a heads up on any "gotcha's" it looks pretty straight forward as it is a 50amp unit and already wired and framed for the bedroom non ducted unit. Any advise is appreciated and I will post again with pics when done.

Happy Camping!

I’m wanting to do the same. Like you I don’t know where to start! My trailer is 50amp and ready for the second ac.

Well for those that may need some help for the future, apparently nobody else has done it on here. But here is some pics of the installation. Took about three hours and was not difficult at all. Had to “relocate” the bedroom ceiling light about a half inch to accommodate the AC base.

Thanks for your post with pics. This is awesome for me, since I will be adding 2nd ac. Only question is when you set rooftop unit on trailer did you use any kind of sealant or is the seal on unit enough? Thanks again, this is just what I've been looking for.

I used an extension ladder and kept the new unit in its box. I slid the unit up the ladder on to the roof. Just a thought if your were not sure how to get the unit onto the roof.

Thanks for the photos. My trailer is also prepped for a second AC in the bedroom, but I would also need to open up the roof & ceiling. It’s a bit hard to see exactly where on the roof your access was located....the drawings for mine show it not in the center of the roof, but rather about 12 inches from the right edge of the roof. Is yours off center or in the center of the roof?

What model of AC did you install? Undecided about going with a 13.5 or 15k.

They say not to use additional sealant. There is a thick gasket that is under the unit. I was told to replace it every time you remove the unit.

It is in the center. Thee was a dummy plug labeled (AC Prep) I just cut out inside first up to the pre-installed framing from manufacture. The unit was a Dometic 13.5k, same as the other unit from factory except it was a 15k didn’t see the need to get another 15k.

I'm getting ready to do install. I have unit sitting on roof and tomorrow will start with cutting hole in inside where ac prep is. My question is, did you use a small drill bit to drill up through roof to find corners on top of trailer after cutting inside? That is what I plan to do unless you give me a better idea. Thanks
