Insulation

The mattress in my trailer is against the wall. That wall was on the sun side the other day. I noticed it felt hot. Got the laser thermo out and yes, that wall, where the mattress was pressed against it was 120*.

Makes me wonder if there's really any insulation in the wall.

No wonder the AC is in-adequate in my trailer.

Did you check the temp on the outside of the same wall?

My trailer is a fifth wheel, but here is what I found inside my front cap.

Inset into the cap on the inside of the trailer is a fairly large recess constructed of wood and wood products, I think to appear somewhat like a headboard of a bed. I had to remove that wooden structure (which was not difficult) to install some electronics behind it.

There were two 2" thick spun fiberglas insulating blankets inside the cap. They were loose, sort of just flopping around, and did not cover even half of the square footage of the cap. Installing some good insulation is on my list of things to do.

That's a good point. I checked again yesterday. The internal temp against the wall (where the mattress pressed against it) was 120.9* and on the opposite side of the same wall on the exterior was 147.9*. That seems high.

Now I'm beginning to suspect my laser thermo but it's always reliable before.
