When I owned a 1983 trailer (2009-2015), I got involved with a Vintage RV group. I've found the issues of owning an older RV are a bit different than owning a new one.

A quick Google search turned up some interesting stuff.

Just remember on an older unit, condition is everything! Check the floors and all mechanical systems. It looked like there was a popup section of roof on the TT version.

If you, like me, enjoy repairing your TT as much as using it for camping, go for it!

If you'd rather just park it and clean it between outings, find something under 5 years old.

Edit; Oops, phrased for a newbie. Looked back and saw who you were, sorry.

I did a google search and really did not find anything of relevance. I have rebuilt a few older ones and it is a lot of work but an older one is what I can afford at the moment. we had a nice starcraft 14rb but had to trade that on the 5th wheel and really miss the smaller camper. I do have a small truck camper but that is just for me when I go out riding.

Yeah, the older stuff just gets ignored. Ever hear of Chateau brand travel trailers? Neither did I, until I bought one.

Part of the 'joy' of owning an older piece of equipment is finding out stuff gradually. And then making it your own.

I've got a 1965 Minneapolis-Moline Big Mo 500 Diesel backhoe-loader. They only made a few hundred of that version. I've been using it and keeping it going since 1998.

From what you describe of yourself, you'd like another project. Judge the one you see based only on what's there and how much work it'll take to make it useful. Set the price you want to pay and see if you can get it for that. If not, there are plenty of fish in the pond. Especially at this time of the year.

yes, this is the time of year to make a purchase at a good price. I had never heard of a songbird before so wanted to know anything about them.

Buy and then you'll become JOF's "Leading Songbird Expert".

By January, you'll have to add that to your signature.
