This morning, I took a walk out to my 15 YO TT and gave the sink the light test using the flashlight on my iPhone. While I didn't light through the entire sink bowl, there were many areas, mostly on the sides, where light would shine through. I'm not sure how that compares with what others are seeing.

My 1986 Coleman Laramie PUP had a steel/porcelain galley sink.
