Microwave overheating / shutoff

The wife cooked bacon in the microwave and it got so hot it tripped the thermal switch and it shutoff until it cooled down. Is this normal? Is bacon to much for the small RV microwave?

Thanks

Well, I never cook bacon in my microwave, so no experience. I have tripped the thermal switch in my over the range microwave in my SBH. So it can happen. By chance were you using the stove under it at the same time? Stove vent open/on.

I've never tripped the thermal switch cooking bacon in ours. I only cook bacon in there when I can't do it outdoors. I always make sure that the stove vent is always open.

Didn't have the vent open thought it was just for the range hood.

Microwaves force the warm air from the magnetron tube that generates the frequency that generate the heat into the rv. Having the vent fan running can help prevent the MW from overheating and shutting off.

When I swapped out my mw last time, I added a muffin fan in the back to help vent it outside. We turn it on with using the MW with a manual on/off switch.
