New TT owner, first time hooking up

Our first trip with the travel trailer will be to a site with full hookups. I just want to make sure I do everything right since I've never done this before. I have:
50' drinking water hose (2 25' sections)
Pressure regulator
Backflow preventer
Water filter
Hose splitter
30A to 50A adapter
2-10' sewer hose sections
Hose for back washing black tank
Sewer hose adapter for different size sewer inlets
Sewer hose support
Rubber gloves

I've been told to shut off main breaker in RV before plugging in to shore power. After plugging in, then I can turn breaker back on.

I will connect pressure regulator to CW hose bibb, then hose splitter - one side for drinking water hose and filter and the other side for the black tank backwash hose (including backflow preventer). Before I turn on water I should open both hot and cold water faucets at the kitchen sink to help remove air while system pressurizes.

I've read just about every post about dumping and flushing the black water tank so I think I'm good with that.

I now have water and power. I'm good to go, right?

20' may not be enough... oh a bleach spray bottle to spray the fittings before you attach your water hose... you don't know what the last guy did or didn't do...

I just shut the breaker off at the post plug in the flip it back on if it was on... no need to do it inside the trailer.. do you have a surge protector?

good advice too was to have about 20 gal of fresh water in your unit when you leave home... when I got to the KOA in GNP the water main had broke they were fixing it but we still had water if it would have went to long... that is handy...

And while you have time read the manuals what came with your RV, saves a lot of hassle when something goes wrong.

Sounds like you have been doing your homework, I think your off to a good start. I also turn off the breaker at the pedestal before plugging in the cord from trailer, and I always use the 50amp plug since they are not used as often as the 30amp and in much better shape, looks like you do have the adapter. At some point you may want to look into a Progressive EMS to protect all your electronic equipment. https://www.amazon.com/Progressive-I...ive+ems+30+amp

It looks like you are as prepared as possible for the first outing. But do plan on getting an EMS, not just a surge suppressor. Many of us like Progressive Industries units. Mine is wired into our rig but they make ones that plug into the power post too I think.

15-30 amp adapter You never know when you will be at a site with only 15 amp service (or the 30/50anp dont work)

Yes I will definitely get the EMS, probably the hard wired version. Don't have time to get it before my trip this weekend so keeping fingers crossed nothing bad will happen (electrically) at the camp site. An inverter generator is also on my list of wants.
Curver mentioned 20' of sewer hose may not be enough. Really? I would have thought sites with full hookups would have the sewer connection fairly close by.

True, but the sewer connection (or water or electric) is not always in the right place!

I've been in a couple older CG that, after positioning the trailer to be close to level from side to side on the site, the sewer connection was well behind and off to the side. I was very glad I had the extra length of sewer hose.

I carry 20' of stinky slinky, and sometimes it has been stretched pretty tight. Remember that some larger MHs have their waste tank outlets in the middle of the coach. Some CGs are designed with those larger units in mind, so you might have to stretch a little bit to get to the outlet.

I've always made it with my 20', but sometimes it's been a little too long for comfort.

Good call carrying 50' of fresh water hose broken out into two hoses. I carry one 50 ft hose, and sometimes it's a bit cumbersome.

You may want to consider an extension for your shore power cord. I used to run a 35 ft 50A cord in my old trailer, but I always carried a couple different types of longer cords and extensions. One time we landed and I didn't trust the pedestal in my site. It ended up being fine after the staff came and checked it out, but if I needed to run my cord to the next site for power, I was able to do that.

Keep a notepad handy to write down items you wish you had or that you forgot or that you need to acquire. This will come in SUPER handy the first few trips.

I also use the breaker on the pedestal, not the one inside the rig. Turn it off, plug in your shore power cord(s) and then flip it back on. Easy peasy.

You got this, go have fun!!

in my case I was at a KOA.. and my drain is in the middle of my TT... the hook up was beyond the back of the TT by about 8 feet.. so when I pulled out my 25' it wasn't long enough.. i had to back up and that made my ramp door unable to go down due to the fire ring being right there... your results may differ.. just my experience.. I carry an extra 20 feet now.. easier...

Sorry. I was rude.
Welcome to the zoo. I'm sure there's going to be many more questions, but we have a great group here, always willing to help.

if you have propane tanks, remember to open really slowly so the safety valve doesn't slap shut. bleed gas lines by turning on a burner and let it burn for a few seconds.

sounds like you are ready to roll!!!

You will see in other threads not to leave your black tank open all the time. Let it get reasonably full and then empty. Less chance for a plugged house, and then flush with gray water.

Yes, I have a Surge Guard and it has saved my trailer several times.
