Newbie question about my slide roof.

New to me 2020 265 RLS
After browsing these forums I decided to have a look at the roof on my slide out . I have attached a photo of the seam at the wall .
Is this what it is supposed to look like ? Is the black tape something the original owner added?
It appears to me that it should be replaced .

Mine looked about the same when new. After a year it had some places that looked like it might leak so I added some 4 inch Eternabond tape over the original, only white in color. That was 4 years ago and it still looks good.

Maybe try to roll it flat with a pastry roller or similar and see what happens.
If it's still a concern it's likely you won't get it off easily to replace, just do as Route 66 Traveler said, run a strip of eternabond over it.

Looks pretty good to me. I wouldn't be concerned. Slide roofs never look perfect forever. You'll get wrinkles and small bubbles. Mostly to off gassing. Unless there's a leak problem or other concern, I would just go camp!

The 'cheap' OEM black tape is suppose to keep moisture away from the narrow mounting edge/associated screws of the 4" horizontal flange plate........, IMO it's a moisture leak waiting to happen.

I seen a new Jayco unit on a dealer's lot with the same black tape flapping in the wind.

I would recommend using a heated blow dryer and remove the cheap tape, then as mentioned replace with 4" wide Eternabond Sealer Tape. I've done it to my last two Jayco TT's.
