Ooh, ooh. What’s that noise?
For those of you with intermediate-size TTS — and especially my 212QB brethren — I have a question for you. From time to time, our trailer will exhibit a noise somewhere under the tub/bathroom area when the rig vibrates a little, say from walking around inside. It is kind of a squeaky “ ooh, ooh” sound like something rubbing on something.
The weird thing is it isn’t all the time. Sometimes never, sometimes as soon as we set up. Sometimes part way through a multi-day camp, like this time. The rig is level, chocked, stabs are down and snug (and re-snugged after a day or two for settling). It tends to occur more often in cooler, humid climes like the coast I think.
I’ve checked all the gray water ABS pipes I can reach and all are solid and the hangers in place. Happens whether tanks are empty or full. It sounds like it is under the floor, but louder inside than outside under the rig. Can’t see anything with the coroplast though.
It’s not disastrous — more like a pesky mosquito that bugs you. But if there’s a super detective that has encountered and solved this, I’d love to hear what it might be. Ah, the joys of RV ownership!

I'm not in the intermediate category, but when I was inspecting the plumbing under my bathtub recently, I noticed there was a thin piece of styrofoam directly under the tub. Styrofoam can squeak with something rubbing on it. And things shift when on the road. Maybe a piece broke off and that's causing the intermittent noise. Might be worth a look see.

Thanks! I don’t think I have that but I’ll check again. Good thought though.

IF styrofoam, it may not even be under your tub... it could be under the floor. Don't know how you'd view it though. Jayco even glued styrofoam to my (standard) foam mattress.
"It tends to occur more often in cooler, humid climes like the coast I think."
Also, styrofoam will expand and contract with temperature changes which could explain why you hear it more in cooler weather.
Can't believe it, but there are actually a couple of vids of squeaking styrofoam on YouTube should you want to compare the sound.
Or yup, it could be a friend or relative on "the other side" playing games with you, lol.

I’ll do some hunting, thanks! But it might be easier to do a seance or exorcism. LOL. Thanks for the ideas!

You might find out it's only a Tribble under there! They make that same noise when you step on them! Lol!

@LuckyDuck You're welcome but I think you're right... a seance or exorcism would be easier than trying to pinpoint an anomaly like that. Good luck!
