Power converter

I have a 2007 JTX 26 and I have had it plugged into shore power for a couple of days but I've found the fridge will not remain cold. i started messing around and found the lights were very dim inside the trailer but the microwave still worked. The batteries are not charging and now the ignighter on the fridge will not click when I try to set the fridge to gas. I've researched this and I think it's a power converter issue but this is not my area of expertice. Does anyone have any input on this or have had similar issues?

First thing I always check is the 30 amp fuse at the battery. That exact same thing has happened to me twice.

hmmm well then I'd check your converter's charging lead going to the battery. Check it for a loose ground or check the box to make sure the wire is still screwed down to the unit. They use 8 AGW and sometimes that thick of wire feels like it's screwed in but it's not. Do you smell anything burnt when you are down there.

did anything happen prior to noticing this? Did you have a power outage or maybe a surge?

X2 on the Progressive!!! Just replaced a unit on my daughters 2005 camper with a 40 amp Prpgressive.

I didn't notice a surge or outage. What I did notice was that when the water pump would kick on the lights would dim to an abnormal level. I thought this may be due to low battery level..we were dry camping.

I'm thinking it's definitely a converter.

Check the fuses on the converter itself. Usually two 30A fuses on the back of the converter. If you hooked up the battery backwards for more than about 1 millisecond then those fuses will blow.
