Propane-to connect or disconnect
When the need to fill your propane arises, do you take the tanks off the trailer and take only the tanks to be filled, or do you leave the tanks connected to the TT and take the whole rig.
Love the opinions, please keep em coming.

Tanks get removed for filling. There is no way I would attempt negotiating the trailer at the place where my filling is done.

Much more convenient to take off the tank(s) than it is to haul the whole trailer down espeically when they have to weigh it to know how much propane to charge you for.
If taking it off is a PITA and is a contributory reason for the question ... you might want to consider modding the attachment to the RV. In my case I have bolts/butterfly nuts and a long bicycle lock for security.

Take the tanks off and get them filled.

You have to disconnect the tanks to get them filled anyway, so the only extra task is to unscrew the hold-down(s) and lift off the tanks. Sure is a lot more convenient to do than take the whole trailer. Plus, as mentioned above, you couldn't weigh them if still attached to trailer.

We take both off and refill both at same time even though 2nd tank isn't empty. It's just as convenient and I can be sure that I always have a full tank at any given time.

I remove...I don't know of anyone that would even fill them on the trailer...I see them filled two way...one by weight...one by bleeding the dip tube....either way....take em off.....I don't trust the guys who fill them....don't let them blow your trailer up lol....

I take mine off. Back in my motorhome days it was a pain to fill up because you had to drive it somewhere and fill it.

Be sure when you are hauling the tanks to keep them in an upright position.

What is the reasoning behind that? I always lay mine down so they don't fall over. (30# tanks) Never had any issues.

X2. Hated having to get close to the BIG tank with the motorhome so they could fill it with their short hose.
