Radio

I have a 2006 Jay feather. TT came wit a Audiovox AWM930 Radio.
The radio stopped working and was told they don't fix them just replace them.
I bought a Pyle PLRVST400 Radio.
Hooked it up and it works fine except for one problem. The volume will turn down to 01 but still is a little loud (say to loud to take on the phone) . 00 turns volume off. Would anybody know if speakers being hooked backwards could cause this. By backwards I mean

+ to - and - to +. The radio schematic shows a + color and a - colored wire for each speaker. The speakers have no markings for + or -.
I only have two speakers.

I've seen some speakers with a red dot by the positive terminal, and another way is if you can see the color of the wires on it, a silver wire will be the positive, and the copper wire is negative.

If those aren't on yours, the positive side may have a solid, or broken white line on it, maybe ribbing. The negative will be plain.

Is ohms out still the same eg. 4 ohm speakers vs. 8 ohm speakers. My Geezer Glide uses 2 ohm speakers.

The dots, etc. are polarity marks to keep the speakers in phase. Most people tie the wire coming out of the radio from the red post to the dot. However, if you get both backwards it doesn't matter. Just hook them up the same. Most people can't tell even if you get one backwards.

Just trying to figure out what is making the volume so erratic. Would hooking up the speakers wrong cause this problem.

Hooking up the speakers incorrectly should not cause a volume problem. If for some reason the speakers specs don't match requirements for the unit, I can't speak to any issues that might cause. I would suspect the new unit.
