That doesn't go into your fresh water tank though does it? I'd be concerned with residual bleach getting stuck in the lines.

After you sanitize you flush the tank and lines with plain water. That is what the owners manual tells you to do.

That is true about 95% of the time. I worked in Houston in the 80s and recall the weather got really cold over Christmas of 1986 or 87. Temps never got above freezing for a week. We lived outside of Katy, TX in a subdivision where all the houses were on slabs with the plumbing in the unheated attic. I kept my water dripping that week and was okay.

Many of my neighbors had left the area for Christmas and their pipes froze. When they thawed, it "rained" throughout their houses. I walked down my street with a large wrench. When I'd see water flowing under a front door, I'd turn off the water at the meter. Those houses had massive damage.

So it CAN get cold enough in Houston to require winterizing... Just not every year.
