replacing low point drain valves

At the end of the season we noticed one of the low point drains was constantly leaking. I took off the panel to access the location (in our trailer under the fridge - also the location of the hot water heater so the panel comes off each fall to winterize/bypass the hw heater, etc.) I fiddled around with the valve a bit to see if it would "reset", thinking sometimes you might get a bit of dirt or something in the way. Nothing worked.

The two low point drain valves in there are cheesy plastic white thingy's, they pull up and down. I've seen some options online for replacement but still seem cheesy. Anyone replaced these and have a recommendation? They are not leaking into the trailer, just water leaking out underneath through the hose when connected to city water or using the pump with the tank.

You can replace the o-rings.

I used Watts brand (similar to sharkbite brand) quarter turn ball valves. Real easy to use. I left the original shut-off's in place, and installed these up stream. This eliminated having do any additional plumbing.

I'll try taking the valve apart to check the o-rings.

Did you put the replacements on the outside of the trailer where the lines drain and then just leave the old ones open? I read that someone did that and was thinking about that for ease of use, however, I have to take the panel off each year to bypass the hot water heater anyway so it doesn't really save me any steps.

Don't loose the metal clip!

I installed mine before the oem valves inside the tt (we cold weather camp, and don't want them to freeze). As for the position of the oem valves, I normally keep the oem valves closed, just to keep bugs and dirt further from my potable water. Really does not mater.
