Slide lock

I'm new to slides. My trailer has a slide lock (screw jack) that secures the top of the slide for travel. My question is should I store it for the winter with the slide lock in place or not? I like the idea of having it installed since it will provide a better seal at the top of the slide, but I don't want to do any harm by having it wedged in there for several months.

What year and model is your trailer? I have a 2015 24FBS and was told I didn't need one. From what I understand, it's only for traveling to prevent movement of the top of the slide. In storage I would just leave it up but not tight. Then you know where it is.

I've got a '13 Jay Flight 28BHS. I like your trailer too - that's the floorplan I would have bought if we weren't looking for bunks. Looks sharp in the black trim too.

The slide on my trailer isn't a big, heavy one. It's just the couch that slides out, and all the mechanics of the slide are inside the trailer, under the couch. Not under the belly like those big double slides where the fenders are attached to the slide.

Using the slide lock in Winter would provide a tighter seal, I have done it myself. I see no sown side to it, just remember next Spring it is there and to remove it before you hit the slide switch. You could do some damage......
