I believe (my guess only) based on what Jayco told me..
"Awning toppers are not an option on this model so there will not be backing in the wall construction to attach the topper too."
...that there is not true backing there, with that said I would believe there is "enough" based on other research (not scientific) I have done.
I have seen Toppers on fiberglass sided 28BHBE's (BigJohnD's and now SouthCo's) and believe being Wood and Glass they have more bite for the screws plus the sealant probably helps work as an adhesive, which would be the same on a Aluminum sided trailer.
With that said I did get schematics from Jayco and the body of the camper itself has a nice size header going across it but the Slide is where I am more worried as it does not appear to have a nice header beam although the slide schematic they sent me is not for our exact slide (I can tell by the window cutouts).
I will take a run at installing one on mine but so far have not found the free time to do so with all the Camping we have been doing, regular work and other commitments.
