Tire Sizes

I am needing to put all new tires on my camper.

that being said I am looking at the stock replacement of 205/75/15 C.

I am planning at a minimum to go to a D load rating. the thought however has crossed to go to an E rating but.. then I need a 225/75/15. Has anyone gone with the larger size or am I wasting my time?

I would rather have a higher rating than the minimum to be covered.

I have a 98 Eagle 246.

27.1" dia to 28.3" dia you will gain 1/2" of ground clearance and a little more tounge weight. Depends on how happy you are with how your trailer tows now

If clearance is not a problem, I would upgrade to a Load Range E tire, you will never regret having tires with a higher towing capacity and sturdier sidewalls under your trailer. It is money well spent!

Tires for 22FB

Shopping tires for our 2010 22FB. Stock size is 205/75 15 C's. Currently have GY Marathons C's that look good, but I fear they're originals. Have pricing on GY Endurance D's for $550, and Maxxis D's for $515 - set of 4. What do I gain with an even larger size and or load range E? There has to be some point that 'enough is enough' Thoughts? Thanks.

it seems like there is ample clearance to go to the larger size and I could also adjust the hitch to help it sit more level as well.

I'm thinking for all the unknowns I would be better off just going with the D's and being done with it.

Better prices

Did more shopping w/ large local tire shop. Couldn't get GY Endurance. 205/75 15 D Maxxis 8008 $445 out the door. New Carlisle D $370. Anyone know anything about Carlisle? I'm leaning toward Maxxis.

I am also considering up grading my Jay feather 7 18RBM as the current 14" wheels and C rated tires are marginal with a full load of water, propane etc. We previously owned a popup TT with 13" wheels and marginal tires and driving in the Southwest in the Summer we had constant tire problems.

It looks like I have plenty of room for a 15" wheel and the same series tire with a D rating, adding only about an inch as a previous poster mentioned to the OP, which would be a great safety factor to have. Would also allow me to upgrade the wheels to a higher load rating.

Best,
Steve

To the OP. Your load range C tires have a combined capacity of 7280 lbs. Load range D tires would have 8600 lbs combined capacity. That's a significant increase without having to go to a larger tire.
I just upgraded from LR C tires to the Carlisle HD in 205/75-15 LR D. It only took one trip with the trailer to feel the difference. Much more stable and the trailer seems to roll easier. Also much less sidewall flex.
My concern with going to a LR E tire is it would be too hard and create more stress and shock to the axles and springs. Maybe, maybe not but I think a D tire is the right choice.
