planning a trip from. Buffalo to New Orleans. figure a mix of thruway, main roads and probably not direct by any means. How fast do you usually go driving? Average speed/milage per day?
I believe the truck is good for 400 miles(maybe less with tt) me, maybe 6 hours.

I personally use the 200 mile rule . Sometimes a bit more generally a bit less. This let's me enjoy my coffee and avoid being out during rush hour.
Makes the trip itself more enjoyable.

About 6 hours(of actual towing) is the max I’m willing to do in a day, assuming I get to stop for about a half hour to eat lunch and stretch my legs. I cruise along in the right lane at 62-63 mph on the highway.

Its whatever YOU feel comfortable doing, time AND speed.
Me, I have no problem running 72mph with the cruise on pulling our Northpoint and running until the truck need some petrol. Which is about 300mi. and 4hrs. Fill it up and get back on the road.

You will get many opinions so here is mine I go 70 ish on the interstate and typically 5 below the limit on other roads. The typical day is around 550 on long trips so I do not have to fill my truck with the 5th wheel attached. I stop and use the bathroom in the 5er when ever my wife needs to.

Although I can drive 12 hours a day in a car, when towing my fifth wheel, I’m pretty much done after around 6 hours. Maybe a little less if I have to drive through a major city, traffic stresses me out a bit.

Although I normally drive at the speed limit, 70 in many cases, my average over the 6 hours is around 55 due to a couple quick potty stops. That would also be no food stops, we pack a cooler for the day. 330-400 miles a day, max.

To me getting to a campsite isn't a race. I like to enjoy the trip. On thruways, I drive at about 60. For planning purposes, I use 50 mph to determine the time to get there. This figures in most stops for fuel and food.

Bear in mind that many states limit speed to 55 mph when towing.

No more than 6 hours max, and about 60-63 mph. Try to break it up with a few minute stop also, just to stretch.

2X on the 200 mile rule. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I try to avoid the interstates as much as possible ( once i get away from this east coast) because we feel we miss to much. We have a 26XD Class C and on the interstates I run 70 to 72 mph which seems to be the sweet spot with this rig, and of course posted speeds on the US/state routes. Now bear in mind we are retired and not up against the calender.

No more than about 5 hours driving. I usually keep it 65 - 67 MPH.

For me I have limited vacation days we try to keep it under 500 miles a day and run the speed limit +\- 5mph

65 mph max. 300-ish miles a day but 200-250 is better. Now that I’m retired our stops are at least 2 nights.

I drive 60 on interstates and 50 to 55 on secondary roads. We usually avoid interstates because they are boring. We go 200 to 300 mpd. We stop a lot at most anything that catches our eye. Before retirement we were in a hurry like most of you

Don’t exceed the speed ratings of the tires on your trailer. Some are only rated to 65. Newer trailers and newer tires are probably better, but definitely check your trailer tires’ specs to make sure you don’t get carried away.

6-ish hours is all I’ll do with the family. Otherwise, it’s not fun and all I’ll be doing is teaching them that camping sucks.

I retired late ‘16 and we’d been planning our first “long” trip for a couple of years. Fall of ‘17 we took off and spent 6 weeks making the “great west loop”. We’ve done a 7 week trip since (KY bourbon trail in ‘19). We even turned a 10 day stay at “the Fort” at WDW into a 4 week ramble.

We try to do 400 to 500 miles a day. Two hour segments, stopping at rest areas or for fuel or lunch. We figure we are averaging 50 miles an hour by the end of the day, driving 8 to 10 hours, including breaks.

I'm pretty much the same. 60mph for the most part on interstates and figuring 50mph for the trip to determine time works out pretty close.

I stop regularly at fuel stops, at least once every 2 hours. Gives my legs a break and allows me to relieve other things. LOL

My long trip these days is on I-5, either north or south bound. The big cities are stressful but the wide open spaces and wide lanes inbetween are pleasantly relaxing.

I usually go 400 to 600 miles a day if I have a single destination. But I play it by ear. If I'm tired for some reason I'll stop and take a nap somewhere, morning or afternoon.

I like to start my driving days early in morning, well before dawn. Sometimes 2AM if I wake up that early. Other than having to be focused on looking for deer or elk on the fringes of the headlight beams, it's really easy driving at that time, even through the big urban centers.
