Warranty Issues

I want to make a couple of small upgrades to our new White Hawk but want to make sure it won't void the warranty. I'm planning on replacing the analog thermostat with a digital one and also add a DC outlet to the bedroom.

Is this something I need to get approved by Jayco before doing it or just make the changes and not worry about it?

I would proceed with your mods, and just don't volunteer what you've done if you ever take it to a dealer or service place. Most don't care, and won't notice. I don't have to mess with service places much, but I can tell you most don't care. I technically voided mine the first week I had it. I've welded on the frame, rerouted and added electrical stuff, changed t-stats, and a LONG list of other stuff. Make it how you want it and enjoy.

Has anyone contacted Jayco to get approval for mods to the trailer while it was still under warranty? What was your experience?

Most of the Jayco warranty is their passing along whatever the component mfg's will cover, supplemented by their own coverage. So, I doubt strongly that as long as a modification you made did not contribute to the cause of the warranty claim, they would make an issue of it. If you blow out your AC, that will probably be on you. But if your roof leaks, or a slide stops working, then Jayco shouldn't have an issue.

From the Whitehawk manual: "Jayco’s limited warranty only covers substantial defects in materials, components, or parts of the RV attributable to Jayco". Nowhere does it say that you can't make modifications.
