Angry Water heater problems

We have a 2019 Jayco Eagle Travel Trailer. We used the electric mode for the first 6 months. Worked wonderfully. Then one day after moving to a new location the electric would not turn back on. So we used the gas to heat water that night. Next day we found the water heater had smoked profusely with major smoke stains up the side of the trailer above the water heater vent. area

We checked all breakers and fuses and can not get the electric to come back on. We are worried about using the gas until we can get it looked at for fear of fire. We are still under warranty but no local Jayco dealer has "time" to help us. They are all booked up for weeks or months ahead.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an electric reset on the water heater? HELP

The fuel/air mixture needs to be adjusted and you can do it. It’s only one screw, give me a minute or two and go out and take a pic to show you where to adjust.

Move this to adjust the flame for a cleaner burn

You might also try cleaning out the tube between there and the end. Often dirt daubers or spiders will nest in there. Any restriction will cause the flame to burn incompletely, causing soot.

If little critters are the problem, even if they aren't, it's good idea to get the bug screens that cover the water heater and furnace vents. You just need to be sure and match the proper size screen to what you have.
