Will I be ok....

Heading south in a few days to warmer weather. Temps here are below freezing in the 20's most of the night. If I fill my water tank and water heater will they be ok?
Temps during the day are above freezing, 40's to 50's.
Thanks!

How far south would you be at the end of your first day? Will you be spending night one in an RV Park or are you planning a stop at Walmart ?

You should be OK, I would recommend that you run your furnace on low, and make sure the water heater is on, also try not to get water in your grey and black tanks, my concern is water will run to the lowest point, which is unfortunately nearest to the discharge valves, which probably would be the least protected.

Sounds like your plan is to fill the tanks the nite before and blast off in the morning. You'll be fine.
A. You got minimum 6gal of water in a tank that's somewhat inside AND has a styrofoam insulation around it.
2. Your fresh water tank has prolly 40gal (?) of water in it and is somewhat inside.
The water going in there is around 55* and it's going to have to be pretty cold for a long time to freeze it. Sure, you put a bowl of water outside and it'll freeze but it wont freeze solid and it's not protected by any means. It's completely exposed.
We've camped when the temps got down into the 20*s at nice and never had any issues. If itll make you sleep a little better, turn the furnace on that nite and set the temp for 55* of you want.

I would not worry to much. We commonly camp with over night down in the low 20's and day time highs around 40. This is at the beginning and end of our camping season. We do not have an enclosed underbelly. Never froze up.

Moving/sloshing water will not freeze. The little bit of water in the waste tanks, will have room for the ice to expand. If your nervous about any in the drain pipes, dump some rv antifreeze or cold weather windshield fluid down the drains. It will keep any potential hard ice from forming.

Thanks everybody! Not too worried about the fresh water, just mainly the water heater. I think I will just go ahead and turn it on for the night. And yes, filling up night before and taking off early next morning.

If you can, run it on electric for the night.
