Winterizing new Jayco 232RB

Hello everyone, new here and a brand new RV owner. We picked up our new 2018 Jayco 232 RB about a month ago. Been camping twice and we love it. If anyone is considering getting one and has any questions please let me know.

I have been looking through the forums as well as YouTube vehicles on getting it ready for our brutal cold winters here in Michigan. We plan to store it in our back yard behind our privacy fence.

So far I have seen mention of three valves we are supposed to close off, but I can only find one. In our package (customer value package) there was mention of a Hot Water Heater bypass. I only find one valve. Is that normal, and is that the only one I need to turn off to run the RV Antifreeze through the system? I also found the pump and the clear hose with another switch, I assume I turn that to switch to run the RV Antifreeze through?

Sorry for the newbie question and thanks for any help!

I do have to bring it in for service already, because of a short in the speaker on the awning.

Hot water tank bypass will be two valves, you do not want your antifreeze going into your hot water heater tank, hence, the bypass.
3rd valve is like you mentioned by the clear hose and pump.
If your not sure on where the valves are ask the dealer to show you when you have it in for the speaker issue.
Sometimes the valves are difficult to see because of the way they might have been facing when installed.

In your picture,I can see a black valve near the floor but I don't see a second one at the top of the bypass.
I'm sure someone else will chime in after looking at the picture.

Thanks, yes, so far I only see one black valve by the floor. I see on Google Images many variations, and that some have a single bypass valve.

Thanks for asking this question, and posting a picture. I was going to do the same. I have the 2017 23RB but but floor plan wise, and major systems wise it's identical to yours.

My water also only has one valve, and it's in the exact same position shown in your picture. I'm hoping anyone with a 2017 23RB or the 2018 232RB can answer your's and my question.

Thing is, the original OP and my trailer do not have the three valves normally found in a tank by pass situation.

We are wondering how to do the WH bypass with the single valve in our set up.

Although I no longer have a Jayco (sad) our 2016 Shadow Cruiser also has only 1 valve for the water heater bypass. After much searchingI found that there is a "1 way valve" in the system. I am sure someone can explain it much better than I. I do know thatI was able to winterize our trailer and no antifreeze went into the heater.

This is what most three valve bypass systems look like. What you have is a one valve system that uses a check valve on the top fitting coming from the hot side. For normal operation the valve needs to be horizontal, to bypass turn it vertical and antifreeze will not enter the HWT. Make sure you drain all the water from the HWT.

Agree, my new 2017 RBWS only has the single valve with a check valve in the system.
Turn the single valve 90 degrees to be in line with cross tube.

So..... that white funny looking thing above the black valve must be the one way valve they mentioned?
Anyone know when they started using the one way valve?

Yep, not sure exactly when they changed.
Guessing in the last year 2017

You have the new 3-way valve setup. It first appeared in 2016 with a few models having them, and they appear to be more common.

To winterize, I personally drain the water heater, then I apply low pressure air at the city water connection, and blow out the lines first. Then flip the valves, and add the antifreeze. Then I blow out the lines one more time, displacing the antifreeze. Afterwards I ensure the traps have plenty of antifreeze, then add a teaspoon of mineral oil to each trap and toilet. The oil keeps the antifreeze from evaporating over the winter.

By blowing out the water first, your antifreeze is less likely to be diluted, and you can use less.

Don't put any antifreeze into the water heater. As long as it is drained, the little bit of watwr that is left, will not put any pressure on the tank walls.

I always have 2 gallons of antifreeze on hand, but only use one gallon.

Update: I brought the TT into the dealer yesterday for warranty work. They confirmed, I just turn the one black knob up and down and it completely bypasses the hot water tank.

Maybe I missed it, but was there an answer for getting the antifreeze into the pump? My 2016 RB has a same clear tube coming from pump with a bypass valve (not real clear in photo, but its at the top right). I turned the valve with the pump running and put my thumb over the end of the clear tube. I didn't feel any pressure, as though it was trying to pull air/water. I feel like I should have, am I wrong?

Our TT is a different year and model, but it has two valves by the water pump. I close the one that comes from the FW tank, open the one at the clear hose, insert the end of the hose into the A/F bottle, and turn on the pump. It sucks the A/F through the pump, screen, and into the rest of the plumbing to winterize.
