1992 Sportster 8 Weight

Hello! I just bought a 1992 Sportster 8 pop up and the sticker(s) that show the unit weight are missing. The camper has the 3-way fridge, 3-burner stove, 20 lb propane, 20 gal water tank, and small propane furnace

Can anybody tell me the wet or dry weight of the thing?

Thanks in advance!

saw a post that said 1442 lbs dry. But you may have add on items , water, food, gear, bedding, clothes, etc. Best bet weigh it on truck and truck only, Don't forget that loaded to go includes people, food, water, etc.

Thanks! It seems to be a bit heavy for a F150, especially loaded...

I have a 1993 Eagle 8SD, without a fridge or water tanks and the gross weight says 1700 pounds. I'll check the sticker when i get home to make sure if you'd like.

I tow it with a 2016 Dodge Journey with the 3.4L V6, thats good to tow up to 2500 lbs. no problems at all, sits good and tracks perfectly.

Watterparks,

Welcome to JOF

If you can't tie down the OEM weight specifications of your 1992 Pop-up, give Jayco customer service a call (have your VIN handy).

Local truck stops, moving companies, feed store, granaries etc typically have scales that you can use weigh your camper. Make sure you get total weight of the camper axle(s) and the jack on the scale. Then pull back around on the scale, don’t back up on the scale, and keep the wheels OFF the scale and have only the tongue (jack) on the scale. This will give you the tongue weight of your camper. You want 10-15% of your camper on the tongue to prevent swaying. You should also weigh the entire setup to make sure you’re within the GVWR of your tow rig.

With your options, it should weigh close to 1300 lbs.
Here is a link to a site I found that you can download a free owners manual for your sportster
https://www.cunninghamcampers.com/fc...ls/1992_tc.pdf
I am not positive that mine is a 1992 model, this is what I was told by previous owner. I e-mailed Jayco with the only number I could find on the camper, it was stamped on the inside of door frame. They told me that was the vin for 2018 eagle. Guess I got a great deal haha
