98 Jayco front won’t lift

I have a 98 jayco pop up camper. The front won’t lift when I go to crank the camper. The front cables are all messed up, how do I fix it?

It depends on what the issue is. One possibility is one or both of the front floor corners are rotted and the ratchet mechanism is lift up from the floor causing the cables to go slack. After a while they get tangled up.

First you have to get the camper open. Then inspect the cables, lift etc. if something is stuck the eye bolts may have pulled open and let go of the cables. If you replace cables, label each one per the corner it’s responsible for lifting. Upgrade the eye bolts to 5/16th and have them welded shut. Good luck. Have 2x4’s ready, tape the ends to protect the canvas, they should be long enough to hold the front of the camper up. Most likely 3-4’
