Can I use a propane due indicator with this setup?

Hi. Jayco 1992 1006 pop up. The pic shows how my propane is connected. Why such an elaborate setup? What are those two oval-looking connections? And can I add a propane fuel indicator to this setup? It would be nice to know when I'm running low on fuel. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.

Are you referring to the regulator as the two oval-lookingl things? I'm not sure if I can answer your other question about a propane indicator. My propane appliances in my 2010 1006 worked all season on one tank.

That is your pressure regulator. It is very important component.

If your talking about one of those analog dial indicators, yes, you can install it at the tank conection.

Just be aware, they are not known to be very accurate.

In addition to not being very accurate they apparently are notorious for having a negative impact on the flow and pressure of the propane when it's hotter. I put one of these on our previous 195RB when we first got it and very soon after had a problem with the fridge not cooling properly when on propane.

The dealer I took it to confirmed it was the problem and told me they see the issue alot, especially when they have been used in very hot weather and therefore don't recommend them. We spend a fair amount of time in the southwest so that was where the problem was introduced. So I just occasionally weighed my propane tank to get an accurate measure of how full it was. We had a 30lb tank on the 195RB and would usually go a whole season on the one tank. Unless you are running a furnace the rest of the appliances tend to be pretty efficient.
