Painting cabinets should be easy but there are coatings on the wood that some paints won't adhere to. I would take off a cabinet door and take it to a paint specialty store to make sure you get the right paint product(s). If you use a oil based paint make sure you are well ventilated. Years ago I painted some cabinets white but we had to sand down every square inch to make it adhere.

I was going to paint the cabinets with kills then two coats of paint. Now I better do more research. You saved me from doing extra work.

The wife wanted our bathroom cabinets painted. I agreed to do it. As has been said, make sure to sand every square inch. Gets kind of difficult up against the walls and tight places. Came out good but wouldn’t do it again.
Installed a new sink while in there.
