1st Week of F/T RV Living (downside)
Day 1/2 Fri/Sat - Water, no hot water
Day 2 Sat - No water, air in the lines, not a little but for 24hrs
Day 3 Sun - No toilet, black tank is flooded
Day 4 Mon - More of the same, Plumber came out $194
Day 5 Wed - No power (thru day 7 so far), which means no DTV install, they sent the wrong parts anyway!
Day 6 - Still no power (It's not coming from pole to us or neighbor, waiting on property owner to get back to us)
Day 7 Friday - Woke up to a flooded bathroom, 12 inches out onto the upstairs carpet (no its not the gray or black tanks, both were empty, it was water left running into the toilet, so we think!)
How can I keep the carpet, or do we have to remove it?
SO FAR THIS WEEK HAS COST US $$$! Newbies beware! Living in an RV isnt as cheap as one might think, gas, propane, electric, parts, service, etc...

Is this a brand new RV? Pre-owned RV?
Did you do a on property trial before going F/T?
Test all the things before heading out?
Research F/Ting the benefits and ALL the cons of F/Ting?
Just wondering
Don

If it was clean water that got the carpet wet you should be ok. I would go rent a carpet cleaning machine from the local big box and clean it good and suck as much water out as possible. Then pull the carpet back so it can dry good from both sides and give the floor a chance to dry.

2012 RV, works great for the most part. Learning curves and set up by dealer incorrectly, given bad advice by service. Toilet, our fault. And yes yes yes to all the rest.

After you wet vacuum the mess.......ventilate ventilate ventilate. Gets some fans on and watch for mold. Treat it the same as you would a flooded home. 12" of water in your camper is like 3' of water in a home in a flood zone

The thing you need to remember is you never trust a truck sales person (politically correct term?) as they will tell you can tow anything with a 1500, an RV sales person or technician. They all claim to know it all but it is their pocket that is driving their response.
Like the other member said, ventilate!!! If at all possible can you pull up the section that got wet and let the under side get some dry air?
Good Luck, once you get past the initial issues... it should go a lot smoother for you.

Agree, but I read it as the water was 12" out from the bathroom door; hopefully not 12" deep.

oldman is fine by me.
Up until a couple of years ago, I was playing Battlefield MMP (massively multiplayer) online games on the PS3. There I was with, and against, kids that were a fraction (1/2 to 1/4 or worse!) of my age. 'oldman' there was very appropriate and on this site I am in good company.

As a fan of the battlefield franchise myself, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't own the new Battlefield 1 that came out about a month ago... WW1 combat at its finest. They have thankfully gone a different direction finally than call of duty.
If you ever fire up your older battefield titles, PM me your screen name I'm Bansai223 on the ps3 and 4.

A gamer and proud of it. Been playing computer games ever since 'Pong'. Actually played a little text-based 'Star Trek' and 'Adventure', too.

I don't even recall what my screen name was.
Thanks for the invite, but it's not going to happen. Partially because my slow DSL connection sucks. The connection drops many times almost every night which really messes up playing MMP games! If we get a better internet connection someday, I might give it a try then.

My husband is getting great at the auger, no more wimpy snakes up in here! We do love it, its just the first week, learning, learning, learning. F/T is way different than being just the occasional weekender! Oh and we just cut the carpet out, it was dirty anyway!
