Best Black Water Drainage System?

I am new to TT's and getting ready for our first camping trip in April in our X213 Ultralite. I was wondering with all the experience out there, who has found the best set up for their Black and Gray water drain system?

Are there any brands that might be better than others?

What accessories would you recomend?

Where do you store the hose and connections? I have read that some add a PVC tube under trhe TT to store the hose.

Thanks all,
Brent

I use the Camco Rhino flex hose. It has a very secure connection and is rigid enough to stay in my slinky holder. The problem with this hose is that it doesn't really fit in the bumper, so this year I am considering mounting a black pipe under the RV to hold the hose. This will also be an advantage to have the hose closer to the outlet.

What ever you pick, be sure to get a hose and fittings that connect securely, nothing worse than dumping and having a hose malfunction.

This clear elbow will assist in letting you know when the water runs clean:

I use this hose and it works very well:

Keep a box of disposable gloves handy too. As far as the PVC pipe goes I've seen people have some very good luck with it, just remember to spray it out every once in a while.

I also use the Rhino Flex system. Also a clear fitting at the top to see when it runs clear. There are many choices but they are not interchangeable, so stick with one. Most people use a 15 ft hose and carry shorter 5 or 10 ft sections to add on if needed.

I also use the Rhino hose and the fittings would not fit in my sewer hose holder. I added a square vinyl fence post to the bumper of my trailer to hold the Rhino hose.

I full time and use the Rhino Flex. I have a 15' section and 2 five foot sections when needed. I use the 15' and a single 5' all the time at my home base and both sections are holding up well after 18 months of continuous use. I have a replacement 15' section without fittings in case the original 15' section hose gives up. So far it looks great.

Thanks for the info guys. Now I have some direction on where I want ot go. I see there are two options for flushing the systems. One is to use the spray wand from the toilet and the other for the pipe connection to reverse flush the system. Anyone have advice on either system?

They also make this one:

Shop around. I paid around $15 for it off Amazon 3-4 months ago.

x6 on the Rhino Flex hose. It has fit in past and present bumpers but only one way and that is the sewer end first with the four nubs in the corners of the bumper. It's tight, but fits.

I used a king flush on my last TT that did not have the built in spray. Personally I liked being able to flush from right at the hookup for the times when you are at a dump station "line". If you can install one then go with that and mount the hookup as close as possible to your service side. If not then a wand is good to use when you can drag in a hose and spray the tank down.

Definitely a clear see though connection somewhere so you know whats going on by sight.

Pack of disposable gloves.

For more ideas try a search in the mods section.

Update: I just went out and was able to fit the Rhino Flex into the square bumper tube (no cutting required for me). I put the sewer end in first and it did slide in. It is tight, but it did fit.

If your RV doesn't come with a black tank flush, it is certainly a great option to add and I would recommend doing so. I added one to my last unit and it worked fantastic, my Jayco Superlite came with one from the factory.

Another Rhinoflex user here. After over 2 years of use, it is holding up well. I did the same as Seann and cut off the ears to so it would fit in the bumper.

Thats a great idea with the flush system installed into the tank. I just purchased two of them thru Amazon for each tank. I need to take advantage of this since the tanks are new. What kind of sealant would you recommend for years of leak free operation?

When I did it, I used silicone aquarium sealant and had no leaks.

I usea Rhino Flex hose, have a clear elbow coming off my TT to connect the Rhino to, and use a Tornado tank flusher - so I can see all of the fun and know when the tank is "truely" clean. It's amazing all of the extra stuff the Tornado clears out.

Speaking as a long time camper, when you buy, buy good stuff. Don't buy the cheap stuff. The dealer supplied stuff will get you through a few months and if cash is tight, wait. But then buy the best. And yes, the better rhino flex is what I use.

I do have several friends that have gone to the DC powered pump systems with 25 feet 3/4" hose. That system, including the hoses and necessary connections will run you $300 if you can find it on sale, otherwise over $400. But it is good, reliable and the cleaner than the rhino flex. In a short few years it will be the standard on high end 5th and MH units. High end MH units are already building in as standard the 12V power supply at the dump valve station.

x2 on that setup...

Not the best pic...but here is my setup -- I have a FlushKing type coming off the trailer so I can "see" if I am clean...second gate valve is nice since it is easy to operate. I also have the tornado which really gets the gunk out...

I use the red EZ Coupler fittings and the brown, heavy duty Camco sewer hoses. I have a 10 ft and a 20 ft setup with an additional coupler for situations where 20 ft is not enough. I like this system because the hoses are available at any Walmart or RV store and I never have to search to find replacements as the EZ Coupler fittings will fit on any sewer hose in an emergency. KISS.
