Storage procedures and checklist

Hi guys I will be picking up my first travel trailer this coming Saturday (2017 Jay Flight 26bh) and going straight for an overnight stay at a KOA Campground and was wondering when I return and put my rig in storage what procedures should I follow since they will be any electrical connections at the storage facility. So do I unplug the battery completely since I am currently not set up for solar but that is something I plan on doing in the near future just to keep the batteries topped off at all times.

On a different note I was planning on not unhitching at the campground since it is my first time and we are only staying overnight is that typically an OK thing to do? If so should I lower my stabilizer jacks and tongue jack what else if anything should I do if I end up not unhitching. Will I still be able to level myself out prior to dropping the jacks? I was reading I should also at least unhook the stabilizer bars to relieve the weight on the tow vehicle.

Depending on the height of your hitch you may or may not be able to level the trailer. Being level is important for slide operation and propane fridge operation. If I were you I would use it as an opportunity to practice the hitching/unhitching ritual.

While in storage I would disconnect the battery.

Staying hitched is fine if you prefer. Only issue would be if your level front to back.

When I have made a quick overnight stop on a level spot, I still put the jack down enough to take some of the load off the truck. This also takes some load off the WDH. It's not necessary but I do. You can also lower the stabilizer jacks if you want.

I always unhook the camper from the trucks 7 pin before plugging into the campground power.

Thanks and unplugging the 7 pin eliminates the rush of waking to a dead battery correct?

I only stay at sites with power so I unhook the camper from the truck.

However if you stayed at a site without power and left your truck hooked up, you could potentially drain your truck's battery/batteries.

I just don't like having my truck connected to the camper while it's drawing shore/pedestal power...

In storage I was also going to place a couple damp rids throughout and maybe a cover. Do you guys do anything else? Just want to take as many precautions as possible although it will only be about a 10 minute drive away but will still be outside all the time.
