Noob from West TX

Hey there, it's Deeger. That's what my grandsons call me. Started out as DG, Deeg, and/or Deeger. We are in Wolfforth, TX, right next door to Lubbock.
We are taking delivery on a new X213 Saturday. Our TV is a '17 Tundra.
I also ride BMW motorcycles ('15 R1200GSA),and into electronics and gadgets (ham license KE5EXE),
I've lurked a bit and learned a few things and looking forward to learning more.
Thanks,
Deeg

Hello neighbor, I'm about 10 miles east of you. Welcome to JOF. Did you buy your new X213 from Pharr RV? If so did they give you a free weekend at Roaring Springs RV Ranch? If they did be sure to take advantage of it. We bought our RV from them in 2008, joined RSRC and have been going there and enjoying it since then. Hope to see you around.

Hello and welcome.

I lived in Lubbock and the West Carlisle area near Reese AFB. It was a long ten years before I finally got orders out.

I hope you have fun and make some memories with the new trailer.

Thanks everybody.

Yes Dan, we go back a ways with the Pharrs. My uncles went to school with Harold at Gomez, and my kids grew up with several of their grandkids. We bought it from Travis. We did get the pass for RSRC, not sure when we'll get to use it. We are headed to Ruidoso next week to the horse races and we are going to try Seeping Springs out.

This is our first trip in it. I'm a little concerned about the blinds and window treatments, they seem to be too flimsy. I like the layout so far and the gadgets are working pretty good. I'll keep you posted as the weekend goes on.

So how do you like your X213 so far? That model was my first thought but the more I look at it, the more concerned I am about storage, both inside and out. Thoughts?

Sorry, haven't been on in a while. We really like the trailer. Slept like babies in a Texas blue norther last night.
Storage is a little sparse, but we aren't doing long trips. I keep my tools in the Tundra cab, locked. We have a Leer camper shell, and we keep the big stuff in there.
The lower front bunk gives us lots of storage on the road, and we can set some of the stuff outside. We are learning as we go, but my wife is the queen of too much stuff and we've made it so far.

One more question... I see you are towing with a Tundra. I'm thinking about going that direction, too since they are available with a 38 gal fuel tank. What kind of mileage do you get when towing? I know it won't be great, but I want to know what kind of range to expect. Right now my tow vehicle is a 6.0L Chevy (gas) and I can only tow a max of 200 miles before I'm sucking fumes. Is your Tundra the 5.7L?

Welcome aboard from Northern Neck Virginia...

We are avid tent campers from back in the 60s and finally added an OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer to the list in 2008. Then we looked at the 2010 Jay Feather trailer with the large slide out bed area. Really wanted to get this one...

Google Image

There is only the two of camping and I have a big love for carrying along my Ham radio and wanted to convert the storage room area to an OFFICE/HAM RADIO room.

After removing the bunk beds and things it would look something like this...

Google Image

I even drawn up plans on what I was wanting to do for the changes shown in RED and BLUE in the pictorial...

Roy's Image

Then I was reading about alot of problems the prior X213s was having with the very large and heavy bed slide was tearing up upholstery and other problems like having large water leaks with the rear seal etc... Some of the older X213s would not be level in time with the back dropping down several inches. All of these items was suppose to be fixed with the 2010 model X213... I also started thinking about how we mostly camp OFF_ROAD like we do and that itself would probably would not do well with the X213... In the end we didn't get one...

We are still using our 2008 OFF-ROAD Tent Camper and also still doing alot of TENT Camping - sometimes both at the same time haha...

Our greatest thing is to wake up creekside somewhere in the back woods to a nice bon-fire watching the fish jump in the creek. Makes that freshly ground and brewed bean coffee we love taste so good...

We also lived in Wichita Falls from back in the 60s and Wife's folks are all from North Texas and Okla... No stranger to your area...

This is us setup in the Wichita Mtns Wildlife Refuge north of Lawton at Medcine Park OKLA.
