question about how the electrical system works on 2007 Jayco 29bhs

How does the electricity in the 2007 Jayco 29bhs work? When the trailer is plugged into the AC, does the battery get charged constantly? or does it stop when it's done charging. My battery was hot and smelling like sulfur when I had it plugged into the AC. I unplugged the AC, filled up the battery with distilled water, then recharged it. The battery charger said it was fully charged so I took the battery out and hooked it up to the trailer. The lights inside worked very weakly and the slide out would not work at all. I'm assuming that my battery is no good so I'm going to buy another battery, but I'm wondering when I do buy another battery, how do I treat the battery so that I don't ruin it and maintain it properly.

The converter/charger is of the 3-stage type. Assuming it is not defective it will properly charge and maintain the battery. Just check occasionally to be sure the water level is maintained.

Your description sounds like you have a defective battery. When getting a new battery be sure it is a marine or deep cycle type. Do not get a regular car battery.
