Electric Tongue Jack issue
Hello,
I have a Jayco X213. Last fall when putting into storage I was putting the tongue jack down and it stopped working. All was OK, as it was fully down and I was set for storage to the winter. Just picked it up and of course it still was not working -- used the manual crank to bring it home for troubleshooting.
From what I can tell from previous threads, most people say to check the fuse by the battery compartment. That fuse is not blown, and there still is nothing when trying to operate the jack. Are there any other fuse locations for the jack or for things to check before I bring it back to the dealer? If it is something easy to fix, I would rather not take it down to the dealer.

Check ground connection for corrosion/rust or might be loose. Sometimes the hot wire splice from jack to battery is done sloppy, so check that. If jack night light is working you have power to the jack. If motor does not operate, then it might be cooked.

This might be silly, but did you check the fuse? There is usually an inline fuse...

The night light does operate, so, that is pointing towards the jack being fried? Guess I'll need to make that appointment.

If you have a multi-meter or even a simple 12V test lamp, you can verify that there is 12V to the electric tongue jack itself. That rules out any issues with the battery's fuse, the inline fuse of the electric tongue jack itself, and puts the troubleshooting down to the tongue jack, or it's ground.

Since you have power to the light you have power BUT there is a breaker inside the body of some jacks that might be blown or U might have a faulty switch.

The original Jack on mine quit too, I had it replaced under warranty and they replaced it with a new 3500 lb one. Works much faster to raise and lower. Previous Jack fried the motor while I was setting up after arriving at site. Luckily I had my tool kit with me to operate manually.

Our was a joke as well. It was actually broken at the dealer but they just chalked up to the battery not being charged enough (trailer unplugged already and putting jack up for us to hitch up). The problem with ours was that the metal let was all rough and out of shape at the top so the fuse would blow when it was trying to pull up the leg all the way because it could not get it up.
We replaced 4 fuses while trying to figure out the issue. The dealer sent us a new jack, but only a 2500# model (smaller than what originally came with our trailer) and we had to pay the $40 shipping COD which they were supposed to refund us for and never did.

Have a service call scheduled in a couple of weeks. I can manage the manual raise/lower for the couple of trips I have planned until then. If it is fried, I'm still under warranty (hopefully I'll get an upgraded jack)

I Installed a ground wire of the same size as the positive wire directly to the drive motor and connected directly to the battery. The power jack will be more trouble free. A bad ground will kill the motor quickly as the windings will heat up.

Ours quit working last year, but it was just the switch. It is not waterproof, and corroded inside. Now I keep a bucket over the jack to keep it dry.

similar problem
so I just bought a brand new 2016 jayco jayflight 26Bh, already having an issue with the tongue jack... so my electric tongue jack worked properly until I raised it up all the way. now it will not operate off battery power just truck 7-pin port power. all other components operate off battery though. please help!

mwcramer93, you probably blew the 30 amp fuse as many have reported here on the forums. It happens when you extend the jack all the way up or down. I've been lucky and not had it happen to us yet, but I carry spare fuses for the time it does. Hope this helps you.

It is an inline fuse. I keep extra fuses on hand as this is an issue with this electric tongue jack.

I blew the in line fuse 3 times before I figured out that I was retracting the jack too much after hitching up. I now pay attention to the red line on the jack leg a little closer and have had no problems since.

By far the easiest way is to not extend the jack too far.... like MtBiker that's what I do. BUT, I do have several spare fuses 'just in case.'
There are resettable 30 amp circuit breakers that could be installed to replace the fuse.
