Grrrr - Jensen JRV215N radio/nav system

Well something weird happened. Came out the other day and the screen on our in-dash Jensen JRV215N radio is all white.

Power off and back on and no-go.

Screen is "ok" - because the cameras still work and display ok.
Anyone else ever have this happen on their Jensen?

If so - any suggestions?
Some sort'a master reset/reboot button?

thanks!

On my rig, cycling the 12VDC disconnect switch also kills the Jensen. That's about as close to a master reset as you can get.

On my 2016 Greyhawk, the master cut-off switch doesn't kill the "memory" wire on my Jensen. I have to disconnect the rear battery if I want to get a true reset on the unit. I added a second battery and a perko switch so now I can reset it easily. The only problem is that I lose all pre-sets and clock setting.

Jrv215n

I'm having a total loss of all functions - white screen with vertical lines - no volume or picture
3 calls to Jenson were a waste of time - no help and a lot of attitude
Jayco said call Jenson - so that was a dead end
Please post here if you find a solution and i will try it also
Thanks Les

Under warranty? Return to dealer, if it is.

I emailed them and got a "try a reset" response.
I haven't bothered with it yet.

Maybe I'll dork with it this weekend.
Yeah, if I get it back I'll post a solution.

Warranty? Doubtful - I'd expect only a 90 day one.

Tech via email suggested the reset button.
Did nothing.

Will continue to dork with it.

-- added -- just read something on iRV2 about this being a fairly common occurrence if coach battery goes too low (which mine did):

I have had similar issues with JRV212T in our Thor Tuscany XTE, and after too many calls to Thor and JVR manufacturer, I believe the problem is (was for my unit) an easy fix. It appears that when the 'house batteries' are drained below a certain level the JRV212T losses (drops) it connection to its power source, the 'house battery'. To remedy this undocumented fault was found by chance and required no more than 30 seconds and NO TOOLS.

Step 1 - recharge house batteries to at least 12 volts. Step 2 - disconnect and immediately reconnect the power wire (small gauge wire connector) providing 'power' to the JRV212T (it's found under console to the left of the unit). You should see the time illuminate on the screen and that indicates you were successful. I have had to perform this task at least 4 times after leaving the 'house battery' charge drop below that magic threshold. IT HAS WORKED EVERY TIME (for me). I hope it works for you. Good luck and please let me know. Pappy

Got it!

That post from iRV2 was the clue. In this case, to bring it back, I had to remove all power from the unit. That's both batteries.

What worked for me:
1. Master Power switch off
2. Disconnect negative coach battery cable
3. Disconnect negative engine battery cable
4. Wait 30 seconds
5. Reverse - reconnect engine battery
6. Reconnect house battery
7. Master power switch on
8. Turn radio on

Screen's back.

Hope this works for you!!

Jensen JR215N Radio working again

My radio display did the same thing on my 2015 Seneca 37FS, I disconnected the coach and engine batteries like you mentioned and now it’s working again! I was skeptical that would work, not sure how the radio loses its electrical connection but this saved me over $400 for a replacement. Thanks for your post!

EXACTLY what you have to do... to power recycle the radio.

Jayco used a half-baked dual-diode idea that they think will isolate the chassis "ignition sense" from the Seneca's "Power Sense" circuit and never did the isolation fool proof. The only way to really power recycle the radio is to remove the power plug from the rear of the JRV215 and then try to power it up w/no main power either.

If you don't want to remove your radio... removing EVERY Battery from the rig will do the trick... both chassis batteries and ALL-four House batteries must have negative terminals removed - and then reconnect the Chassis first, then the house.

Jayco created a flawed dual diode idolater circuit so that you could drive the Seneca with the cameras if there were no house batteries in the Seneca - OR - you could have the ignition off - and still run the radio., You have to Kill the Chassis power 100% to reset the radio while the house power is disconnected.
