Cautionary Tale
While towing my trailer on the Atlantic City Expressway in NJ my truck's transmission started hunting between 4th & 3rd. I quickly noticed that my trans. temp started moving up too so I quickly pulled to the side of the road.
As soon as I got out of the truck I smelled the bad news. Opening my hood confirmed that the engine was covered in transmission fluid. Time for a tow.
It ended up that a transmission cooler hose popped a small hole and started spraying fluid.
The bottom line is that the hose was replaced Monday by a near-by dealer and the transmission was refilled. No codes were thrown and a test drive with computer hook-up indicated all was operating properly. I may have dodged a bullet.
The reason I am posting this is because it was indicated to me that this is not an isolated occurrence and often the end result is not so good. Make sure you, at the very least, you have those hoses looked at during oil changes.
An internet search showed that some have replaced the Nissan hoses with after market hoses.
