Shiny New Tow Vehicle

Replaced my 1/2 ton Toyota Tundra with 2017 Ford F250 4x4 Diesel. This morning was my first chance to attach the trailer and go for a spin. The Toyota had the small V8 and was not designed to tow even a fairly lightweight trailer. My TT only weighs 5700 dry with a 600 pound hitch weight. The Toyota is rated to tow 6900 lbs and I stayed below the rated cargo load but it would not maintain highway speed into a headwind or up a hill. The F250 is an entirely different experience. At 65 mph I accelerated up a small hill and hit 75 almost immediately and there was plenty left. The truck is heavier and did not feel like the trailer was pushing it around. Should be a much more relaxing towing experience.

I did a similar thing last year. Had a 1500 Chev Avalanche to tow our Whitehawk with similar weight. Got rid of that after a longer than normal trip to the Black Hills.
Now I'm towing the TT with a 2500 HD Denali and loving the ride! I got a gasser with a 4.10 differential and 6 sp transmission. It makes mountains into mole hills.
